Thanksgiving 2009

We enjoyed Thanksgiving in Denver this year. It was great because the entire family was there, it seems like lately someone is always missing.

This Holiday Season after watching "The Middle" and Christmas Vacation. I was reminded of how important and meaningful traditions are. I can't count how many Christmas we hiked for what seemed like hours to find the perfect tree just to hike back to the one right off the side of the road, Or now in my own home how annoyed I get putting up the Fish's stockings cause they just fall down 101 times. However like in "The Middle" how sad I was to see Brett do it later on and I not be a part. Some of the things you do may be a pain in the Butt, but it all comes down to Tradition. What would Thanksgiving be without pumpkin pie, like Brett says "No one likes it but you always end up having a piece" an in my opinion I may not have a piece but I want to see it there. It's the small and big Traditions that make the Holidays Memorable in my eyes. I wouldn't change Brett's traditions nor mine for anything. They really are my favorite part of the Holidays.

Another great Family Tradition is putting on the Christmas play. Great Job Trenton and Darcy for planning it. We had the Best Tiny Tim Ever

Sugar Girl

Last year we were at my sister Kristie's and she had everyone go around and say something they were Thankful for. My Dad said "I'm Thankful for the Chicken Sugar". Well Dad so are we. Sugar has been one fun chicken to have and you may not believe me but she really does have quite the personality. Ever since she won 1st place at the fair she thinks the world evolves around her, actually she always thought that. Anyway, the other day Brett was completely inside the coop fixing one of the heaters, when Sugar decided she was done playing outside. She walked into the coop saw Brett thought nothing of it and continued walking over to where she lays. Of course where she lays was right in the middle of where Brett is trying to work, it does not bother her she scratchers for a while and gets all settled in. It was pretty funny to watch, I love how every time Brett does something in the Backyard the chickens have to come over and "supervise".

Happy Thanksgiving

So I decided I wanted to take a minute and say just a few things I am Thankful for. This is for sure in no particular order.

1st- and most of all My Husband, Wow I don't know how the Lord ever saw me fit enough to be with him but I'm Thankful for his love for me to bless me with Brett in my life.

2nd- My lord and Savior, kind of feeding off the 1st one, I am Thankful for the love they have for me and all their children.

3rd- Our jobs, most of all Brett's, It has been so nice to get married and work more less just for something to pass time and give us a little extra play money. I appreciate how well Brett provides for us and in these uncertain times the security that his job gives us.

4th- This time of year, I love the long lines, looking again and again at a sales ad just in case you missed something, and all the hustle and bustle. I LOVE IT, however, even with all that I still have my heart in the right place year after year and look forward to giving to someone in need. I am so excited for the family we picked this year to give a Christmas too.

5th- My Family, I have great times with my family, I'm looking so forward to Thanksgiving and being with all of them. They are my best friends.

6th- Brett's family, I love the relationship I have developed with them and how I feel I just "fit" with them, I love to laugh with Brett's Dad joking about football, "The Burbs", aliens and more. Im truly blessed with a great extended family

7th- My house, So it looks like were going to take the house off the market at least for a while. Its really ok we didn't sell. This home is great, it provides me with warmth, comfort and more.

8th- Yes I have to say THE CHICKENS. Gosh I love those little things. They have brought so many smiles and laughs into my life and I don't know really how to explain it but they have just been good for me to have, Raising these little ones have taught me a lot about life.

Well thats all I have time for, I will try and do some more latter.

Like taking candy from a Baby

So this phrase brought all new meaning to me over the weekend. We went down to St. George and Vegas. We had such a great time but unless Andrea posts pictures their will be none, because on Friday Brett went to the Drag races took one picture and left the camera on and well it drained the battery. I loved just hanging out and escaping Utah for a while. On Halloween day we meet up with some old friends Marie and her husband and we all went trick or treating at the Mall. This was great they were giving away full size candy bars, MILK and Full loaves of Bread, it was wonderful. Well Brett and I had Emberlynn we thought this is good we can get all the candy we want. Addi and Alix are good sharers but lets face it Emberylynn is to little to talk or care. SO WE THOUGHT. 1st of all Emberlynn held on to her bucket so tight, there was no way she was letting go, and 2nd when I did go to take a piece of candy she was starring me down, I felt so uncomfortable and bad I couldn't get myself to take the candy. At one point I gave it to her to see if she would than give it back to me if I held out my hand and asked, yeah don't ask me what I was thinking that sure wasn't happening. She was super cute with the candy but don't let the phrase fool you taking candy from a baby is a lot harder than it may seem.

Happy Birthday Dad

For Dads birthday this year we decided to give him some money and take him out to dinner. I no longer bother with gifts because they either sit their for years and years or they are given away to brother in laws, So money and dinner are perfect for him. We decided to go to Casa Bonita, Brett has never been so I think thats why we choose that restaurant. We had a great time of course everyones favorite was the sopapillas.

Uncle Jerrys

On our way back to Denver we stopped at my Uncle Jerry's and Aunt Laura's. It was great to see them as well. My Dad and him looked at his Birds for quite a while and even thought they aren't chickens it was still fun to learn about them and see. He also made us some of his Chili that's so delicious. I was glad we got to see them.

Last night in Kansas

Our Trip to Kansas was great, it could have been better if Arnold wasn't sick, but oh well we still made the best of it. I don't get down there much anymore so it was just great to see him and see the farm and most of all let Brett see something that was such a part of my growing up life. It was kind of funny when I called my Dad and told him we were going down there he asked "Why" my response was, "Because Arnold is getting old and this may be one of the lasts time to see him" my Dad than said "Ok thats a good reason, cause you know he doesn't have pigs and cows anymore" Thats funny just because he hasn't had pigs in more than 10 years. So yeah of course I wasn't going down for the pigs, my Dad makes me laugh.

Uncle Arnold

It was nice that Arnold got released from the Hospital the last night that we were there so I was at least able to see him in higher spirits. It still was really hard to see him at a nursing home rather than his house but he is still in great health and doing great for 92. I wanted to get some video of him so I can always remember his voice and personality. Not sure if something is wrong with me or what but I don't have the kind of memory I would like. Some of my favorite things about Arnold are... "By Gollie", how he would always name a baby pig after us, My favorite thing about him though would have to be that this guy knows how to keep his cool, I have never seen him be upset EVER, and to me thats pretty amazing. I'm sure he got mad at us kids when we had Track practice on his Hay Bails (Jumping on Hay stacks makes dents in the Hay which water can sit in and ruin the Hay). Or I bet it wasn't his favorite thing when we went down there and rode his pigs making them lose weight right before he wanted to sell them, and I bet he wasn't a huge fan of us kids when we made the cattle stampede over the fence But I, or anyone else would have ever known he was mad, he never uttered a complaint. Brett's favorite thing about him is that he is such a kind and caring person, he doesn't know Brett well but treats him like he has known him forever, Brett also likes how him and my Dad just like to say "Inkie" (I must have heard that name 300 times that trip) Inkie is a car salesman down there, Inkie informed us that Arnold has never bought a car from him. Whats your favorite memory of Arnold?

Baby Turtle

Every time growing up and visiting the farm my Uncle would always ask if I saw the turtle at the bridge. In all those years I never did, however this trip while Brett and I were walking back to the farm house he saw a baby turtle this size but it was dead at the time we really didn't think much of it. Than the next day we saw this one making its long little journey form his nest to the pond. It was the cutest thing to see this long trail of little turtle prints. We helped it out and put him on the bank. We got to thinking about it and think we probably ran over the other one (for some reason these turtles felt the need to make their journeys on the sand, which is the road. We never did find the nest but it was pretty neat to see, and bye the way I never have seen the big turtle but Brett did coming home from the hospital and while going over the Bridge he saw it near a log but it went under by the time I looked.

The Kill ( I would only read this if your a family member, probably borning for anyone else)

Friday morning we got on the tractor and drove out into the pastore not 10 minutes into the ride and we saw a Badger taking its sweet o time along like it knew we didn't have a gun,(Dad had the gun with him in the cab). So he stopped the tractor and gave the gun to Brett (we were ridding in an open cage type thing) Well the rest of the time they didn't see anything. But they were pretty hungry for a kill so after getting back to the farm house Brett went on his own hunt, he ended up finding this huge black snake just North of the farm house. He told me to go get my dad to come out, my dad and Dad came out and said and I quote " This is one pretty stupid snake letting me load all 25 rounds into this clip and not move." Brett's clip had 10 loaded. Well since Brett found the snake my dad said he could have the first shot but watch out after that. Well Brett did get the first shot and the second and third, Why was my Dad not shotting you ask?? Well because he forgot to load the chamber or something like that so by the time my dad figured out what happened to late snake got away. This snake was pretty determined it wasn't going to die, after Brett hit it once the snake collied up ready to attack, Brett shot it again and it than took off. They thought it went into a tree stump but couldn't find it. Well after giving each other crap back and fourth for a while and getting back home from visiting Arnold Brett thought he would look for it again. Sure enough he found it in the tree stump (honestly they are pretty lucky that the snake didn't come out and bite their face when they were digging and kicking that stump trying to find it earlier). Well both "Gunnies" were ready that time and probably put 70 rounds into that snake, it finally died once they finally were able to get head shots. Well family I truly wish you were all there I dont think I do this story justice it was quite entertaining.

Trip to Kansas

Milo, Haystacks, and Wheat. I thought this was such a gorgeous picture. I loved being at the farm during fall and one of my favorite things in life is seeing fields of Milo, wheat, or even just haystacks.
Picture taken just North of the 80. One of the new things I learned from Arnold while I was down there was that Arnold bought the 80 when he was just 18 years old. He had to borrow some of the money from his Dad that he latter paid back, He said "It's just the right thing to do."He bought all 80 acres for $3,000 and recently was offered $80,000 for it.
Brett and my Dad target shooting in the pasture.

Zorro and Cal

When Cal first saw the pictures of the baby chickens he looked at his mom and said "Mom is that one wearing a mask" after Danell told me what he had said I looked a little closer and it does look like he is wearing a mask. So needless to say we named him Zorro. Well apparently Zorro wanted to copy Cal, while Cal was laying down Zorro hoped up and had to be on the other chair as well.

Home Improvments

After
Before
After
Before (notice that we redid the countertops as well)
So Brett and I have been working our Butts off the last month but here are the improvments. Hopefully it will be my ticket out of this home and in to a new one. CROSSED FINGERS.. It looks so much better and up to date. We also redid the lighting and some other things, were looking a new appliances as well the white dishwasher and stove got to go.

Friday, September 4, 2009

Sorry I broke up all these posts, its only allowing me to do five at a time. Anyone know how to add more than that?

Also which one's are your favorites? Im going to blow some up and put in frames. (Frames that I bought over a year ago with Danell in St. George, that just sit in the crawl space collecting dust)

Family Pictures

I decided that I wanted some new pictures of Brett and I. The funny thing though is that if you don't have any kids all your "family" pictures just look like more engagement pictures. Oh Well here they are. I've had a lot of people tell me the brown looks better but what do you think, should i go back to blonde hair???

1st Day of School

So yes Im back in school, but just as an Office Asst at an Elementary school. I'm at the most ghetto school in Davis County, but its going good so far. Anyway these are the flowers Brett bought and had delivered to me, I love flowers and I love how he always thinks of nice things to do. I was pretty nervous about being there but the flowers sure helped.

Danell and I decided to try Roy Days this year, I have heard that it is a really big celebration and the vendors can be quite sucessful. We both did great on Friday and ok saturday. Danell sold her baby items she has made and I sold Bumbles, Mary Kay, Body Glitter Art. What sucks is that the best money maker was the Pop and Water that Brett decided he would set out a cooler and have us sell. I loved having her up here with her fun kids.

BINGO

Brett's Grandparents live in Sunset and in July they celebrate there City Days. They have a great celebration one of my favorites. Of course Brett loves it for the Car show and all the different Car events, which I have to say the "Burn Out Competition" was rather entertaining. But Winigers hosted a bingo game they had great prizes. We called his grandma and grandpa to come over and by the time the got over and before they could sit down (Brett and I were doing their cards) the grandma won BINGO. She one the first two games, than Brett won the next two games. They cleaned HOUSE. It is always best when you win, but even if we hadn't we still would have had a great time just spending time with them. Their is never a dull moment with them, I laugh so much.

Happy Birthday President Monson!!!

Today Brett and I had the chance to go to his parents Stake Conference, Where Elder Ballard and Elder Jensen spoke at. I'm so glad we decided to go, not just so we would get home a lot earlier from church (hate 1pm church) but because their talks were faboulous. Elder Jensen made a comment about it being Pres. Monsons birthday on the 19th, and it made me think of this video clip. I loved going it lifted my spirits and Im sure all in attendance. One more thing Elder Jensen spoke of was how differnt was people can feel the spirit. He told a story of a girl whose parents were taking the dissicusions, one day while the missionaries were there she walked in and said "I'm ready to be baptized". the missioniares confused said " well you dont know anything" she replied "I know enough, It wasnt so much in what you said, or what you prayed, it was in your song". She felt the spirit through song. I latter thought about how I feel the spirit.. I was watching Nascar with Brett and the announcers asked for a moment of silience, I thought to myself and theres nothing wrong with this in face it might be a stretch to even relate the two cause they are differnt things but I thought of this. Before the meeting began, everyone was talking quietly until Elder Ballard and Elder Jensen walked in than there was a all over hush in the tabernacle. No one had to be asked to be quite it just happened. It will continue to always happen no matter who will be in attendance. I believe becuase for that moment when an Apostle or Prophet enters a room all feel the spirit at least I know I did. I got so choked up over this, I love the respect we have and the love we have for these leaders of the church.

Anyway in this video Pres Monson answers the question of what he would like for his birthday present from members worldwide. I know I will be keeping my eyes and ears open to those who may be in need.

Newport Beach

Monday we took it easy and realaxed at Newport Beach. It was a nice overcast day. We layed and walked on the beach all day. It was a great way to end a busy weekend. I had a great time keeping Bretts Birthday present a secret, and I loved planning this trip, usually he makes all the plans on trips so it was nice to see that I can plan a great weekend. Happy Birthday Brett, hope you had a great time.

So now I know why Disneyland is so Expensive

So even though we loved and had a great time there, we dont live for rides and rollarcoasters, however the Firework show by itself is worth the price you pay. It was nice since it was Bretts birthday he got in free but my ticket was $69.00 thats crazy expensive to me, but I would pay it again and again to see the fireworks they were amazing. Tinkerbell, and Dumbo both made apperances in the sky, it was pretty cute.

Disneyland

We went to Disneyland on Bretts Birthday, for it being a weekend durning the summer I thought it would have been way busy, but to our surprise it wasn't bad at all. We went early and got in all the rides that tend to get long lines, and finished right before lunch, left the Park and of course headed to In-N-Out so Brett could have that on his birthday. We came back to the Park rode some of our favorites again and than hit the smaller more relaxing rides. We both loves Splash Mountain. You cant help but go on the ride and be so happy on it, Its just a Happy ride. I loved its a Small World I remember that being my moms favorite. The biggest Highlight of the Day Brett and I would both agree on is in the post to come.....
